Investigation Trip to Europe

Posted by Friedrick on May 10, 2007 in Txtbus

In May, 2007 Friedrick Traveled to London, England and Zurich, Switzerland to investigate the text message systems in place in Europe.

Friedrick discovered that the British transit system was a total mess of many different bus companies, schedules and confusion. Not much could be learned from them.

Switzerland on the other hand has the most efficient transit system in the world.  If the bus is late, your watch is probably broken. The fundamentals of the Swiss system was accurate schedules. They had a more robust route discovery system via text message with scheduled arrival times. Friedrick learned from the system, even though it was written in German.

On returning to Colorado Friedrick added a new feature to Txtbus 2.0: scheduled arrival times if GPS wasn’t available.
